About Michele Marez
Michele Marez is a native Californian who has a passion for the visual arts, especially painting and drawing. While her works vary in media and subject matter, her real passion lies in painting from life, be it still life or landscape.
Not content with traditional landscapes and techniques, she has explored surrealistic images and concepts in a series of paintings incorporating
primitive and contemporary masks.
"I love the interplay between fabric, the masks, and light...my themes are all very straight forward. I collect visually interesting 'found objects of art' include them in my compositions, and return to these motifs again and again for inspiration. My work illustrates how much I love painitng ...this allows the viewer to interpret deeper conceptual meanings or mysteries."
Her formal training at California State University , Stanislaus with a Bachelor of Arts in Fine Arts included studies with her mentor Robert Chairito from UCSC with emphasis on realistic and figure painting techniques.
Michele's work has been featured in numerous exhibits over the years and has won many awards, not only with the Central California Art Association annual juried art shows but other shows throughout California.
In doing a variety of different subject matter, she hopes to share with her audience her passion for the arts.
